Wee Western is childcare heaven

In its third year of providing childcare services for the players’ children, the PGA and IPRA are having a blast! The PGA childcare providers basically travel each week, following the tour, having a good time with the kids. IPRA and their volunteers act as support and coordinate daily trips to Chicagoland attractions. […]

The main gate is where the action is

Crowds in the thousands will be converging on the Cog Hill course over the next couple days. IPRA volunteers are doing a great job making sure everyone enters safely without their cameras and cell phones. Those without tickets to the tournament can purchase them directly from a volunteer at the gate.

Nasty storms this morning cause issues at the Cart Barn

High winds brought down the Cart Barn tent this morning making volunteers scramble to get the golf carts charged and available for use.

Friends are being made

Our volunteers outside the clubhouse are having a good time this morning with the increased crowds and frequent player sightings. As the week progresses more and more friendships are being established between the IPRA volunteers and other volunteer groups.

Vijay Singh stops for the kids

Playing up to the crowds of young fans, Vijay Singh made time to chat with the kids during his round.

Tiger won’t comment

Unfortunately, Tiger Woods had no comment about the state of parks and recreation. When asked, walking off the 8th green, he commented that he wasn’t stopping for any more questions or autographs. I’m sure he’s a big supporter of the fine things we do here in Illinois.

Volunteer raffle winners

Each day of the Western Open, IPRA will be raffling off golf balls, shirts and jackets to its volunteers! We can’t thank all of you volunteers enough for the hard work you’ve done…and the heat you’ve dealt with. Thanks.
Monday winners:
Case of Pinnacle balls - Sue Michlevitz
IPRA volunteer shirt - Dolores Charmelo + Jeff […]

Where to sir?

IPRA’s IT Manager, Dean Comber, drives players and caddies from the clubhouse and practice greens out to the course. Dean will report back if he escorts any of the famous golfers.

Clubhouse action begins to pick up

As the week progresses more and more activity will be going on at the clubhouse entrances. IPRA volunteers check credentials for those entering the area. This is a great spot for seeing players!

Volunteers please wear shorts

Due to the extreme heat please feel free to wear shorts when you volunteer. There is plenty of water and other cold beverages at the IRPA Headquarters, located in the “trailer headquarters” just East of the clubhouse and 18th green. Stay cool.
