Last year The Blog Spot reported on the tragic accidents that can, and have, occurred when soccer goal are not removed after the playing season. It’s that time of year again when park districts need to remove or relocate their goals to prevent such accidents.
Munster Parks and Recreation has recently approved a new park rule stating that unauthorized removal or relocation of goals without consent of the district is punishable by a $500 fine.
“The issue of safety is first and foremost with regards to this rule,” said Robert O’Shaughnessy, Director of Parks and Recreation. “This year especially, it has been an ongoing problem with individuals moving soccer goals and this poses an enormous safety risk.” “There were even instances of soccer goals being moved after the goals were taken down for the season and chain locked,” he added.
Protect your parks and your residents by properly removing or relocating soccer goals. For more information on this park rule by Munster Parks and Recreation, please call (219) 836-PARK.
