Fluorecycle Inc. is a pioneer and leading recycler of fluorescent lights and high intensity discharge (HID) lamps containing mercury, a dangerous substance that can pose serious health hazards.
In 1997, Illinois legislators passed a law deeming it ILLEGAL to dispose of these lights in landfills or incinerators. To ensure public safety, Fluorecycle became the first company of its kind to earn a special state (RCRA) permit allowing it to safely and legally dispose of these lamps through a special lamp management program.
Fluorecycle has a state-of-the art recycling facility in Ingleside, IL. which meets and exceeds all standards set by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. At the facility, the complete process of recycling –including mercury distillation from the phosphor powder– is performed at competitive prices for hundreds of clients annually. Once complete, Fluorecycle provides clients with official certification showing companies have followed the law and adhered to “Universal Waste Management Standards.” Fluorecycle is a member of the Illinois Recycling Association and Association of Lamp and Mercury Recyclers.
Fluorecycle Inc. has extended discounted recycling pricing for park and recreation agencies. For more information, please contact Leonard Worth at 815-363-4411.
