Cindy Capek of the DeKalb Park District needs your help.
I am trying to find out if any park districts have community not-for-profits provide concessions at their ballfields (baseball, soccer etc.). If so, is this on a rental basis, percentage of sales or request for donations? Also, who decides what organization is selected or is it open to all not-for-profits? Lastly, are there any formal agreements you use?

In Tinley Park we have an agreement with our football organization where we provide a manager and 2 staff to work the cash registers. The Bulldogs football organization provide a minimum of 4 parents (must be 21 or older) that cook and serve food, and stock shelves. We give them 15% of net sales for the day. We offered this to our soccer group, but they declined as they could not get enough parents to volunteer. For our 2 baseball organizations we provide a concession building at no charge and they get 100% of the sales for their organizations. These are agreements that date back to the 1980’s and our board does not want to change them now.
In Brookfield, concessions are open at the ballfields for baseball. The stands are staffed by league volunteers and maintained primarily by the leagues. No fees are charged and all monies collected stay with the league.
I believe this policy dates back to an agreement with the Village, 40-45 years ago, and no one has suggested it be changed.
Both our Football and Baseball affiliates have free use of our two concession stands. We pay all utilities and building improvements. The affiliates are responsible for operating the stand and all health department regulations.
In Mt. Prospect, the park district has operated the concession stand at the baseball field for the past two seasons. Prior to the park district operating the concession stand, the baseball association ran the concession operation.
For the Burbank Park District we have four youth organizations (two baseball, one girls fast pitch and one football) which operate and keep 100% of the profits. The park district covers the cost of all utilities and any capital improvements.
Hello everyone!
We have two organizations who use our fields (baseball and football) and we are not allow to charge a fee to use the fields or concession stand. We are responsible for the grounds at both fields, portable toliets, trash bags and etc. I suggested last year to add a donation part to the contract to help offset the cost for the items I mentioned above. I’m still waiting since 2006. LOL!!!
