Bringing the outdoors to our kids

Posted on Thursday 17 July 2008

As posted on the NRPA blog today, Richard Louv, the author of Last Child in the Woods, originator of the phrase “Nature Deficit Disorder” and 2008 keynote speaker at our conference, was featured on NBC’s Today Show.

Watch this inspiring video of a family who took matters into their own hands and got their children and children from around the area to reconnect with nature.

It’s interesting to point out that children exposed to the outdoors from an early age have:

  • less stress
  • better concentration
  • more creativity
  • and higher self-esteem

What type of programs are you doing to get children back out into the woods, into the prairies, and outside - away from video games?
