Dance Showcase 2008 rocked our world

Posted on Monday 30 June 2008

On June 28, the Illinois Park & Recreation Association hosted a one-day Dance Showcase event at the Fox Valley Park District’s Prisco Community Center.

The Dance Showcase was open to all park and recreation agency dance program students. This was not a dance competition but an amazing event allowing dancers to showcase their talents in a fun and noncompetitive venue.

12 dance groups…over 60 amazing dancers…hours of practice…dancing for fun! That’s what Dance Showcase 2008 was all about.

After the performance, dancers broke-out into smaller groups for advanced training and workshops.

It was a great day and much thanks to the Dance Showcase committee for organizing such a great event.

Awesome job Arts and Events Committee!!! You had a great idea and ran with it. As a result, you put on an event that has the opportunity to grow over time. Thank you for all of your time and effort. Ten years from now when hundreds of people will participate in this annual event, we will remember how it started with an idea and a few dedicated professionals willing to spend some time on it. Thank you for reminding us that it is okay to start small as well as we are thinkng big!!!
