Michael Selep, Professional Services Director, headed down to Eastern Illinois University to talk with the 85 students that gathered to talk about how they can become involved in Illinois Park and Recreation Association. He bumped into a plethora of Eastern Illinois graduates who are back in town to talk about the profession and lend some advice to students during this Homecoming Weekend. “The Annual Student Forum is a great opportunity for EIU alumns and other professionals to give back to the University and the students and strengthen our ties to building a network with the students that are seeking careers in public parks and recreation,” said Scott Smith, EIU graduate and EIURAAA President (Eastern Alumni Club). “I enjoyed the opportunity to come back and speak with the students about internship opportunities and networking with professionals,” said Kristina Neven, EIU graduate and former President of the Student Association for Recreation and current SEASPAR staff member. Other professionals in attendance were Jodi Gosse from Homewood-Flossmoor District, Ron Oestreich from Bolingbrook Park District, Kelly LaMore and Karen McClure from Bourbonnais Township Park District, Rita Fletcher from Bartlett Park District, Jami Gower from Decatur Park District, Jamie Davis from from Decatur Park District, and CJ Applegate from Charleston Parks and Recreation Department.
