The new Blog Bar? Is that like the Big Bar at the Hyatt? Well no…but it’s still pretty cool.

The new Blog Bar, found on the main page of the IPRA site, is a new feature that allows you to click on the various blog tabs and read its content without having to leave the page! It’s kind of like sitting at a bar with all your favorite drinks in front of you to choose from. You aren’t going to get buzzed using the Blog Bar but as a member of IPRA you can create quite a buzz by writing on your blog.

Posting questions, meeting reminders, innovative programming ideas, etc. on your section blog is a guaranteed way to reach other section members and the membership as a whole. Pretty much everyone these days has access to the Internet so you won’t have to worry about sending mass emails that get caught up in SPAM filters. All of your news is online and it stays there. It doesn’t get deleted like an email message. You can do a word search whenever you want on the blog and find the postings you’re looking for.

But why have the Blog Bar? IPRA used to just syndicate news from the main IPRA blog onto the main page of the site. This turned out to be a great way to guide people to the blog. We thought every other blog should also receive this type of attention. So now you can remain on the main page of the IPRA site and quickly tab through the various blogs to see if there is content you’d like to read more of. Then simply click on the post’s title and its corresponding blog will open for you to read the entire post.

And don’t forget that you can comment on the blog postings. Afraid of publicly sharing your views on a particular topic? Don’t be. When posting a comment you can always choose an alias name. Maybe you want to be “King of the Park”…or maybe “Aqua Girl”. Your email address is never displayed so posting can be completely anonymous.

So pull up a seat at the Blog Bar and get connected with what’s going on in the world of parks and recreation here in Illinois. Drink up the IPRA news!
