HB1279 confusion

Posted on Wednesday 19 December 2007

On December 12, 2007 the Governor’s Office issued a press release to the media and organizations regarding the Amendatory Veto of the HB1279 - AED Bill.  In the press release it states that the Amendatory Veto will require park districts to provide AEDs at both indoor and outdoor facilities (exempting forest preserve districts and conservation districts).

This is the same press release that was sent to IPRA by the Governor’s Office and posted on the IPRA blog.

However, information on the General Assembly website regarding HB1279 does not reflect the same position that is in the press release released by the Governor’s Office.

This has created some confusion and will be clarified through IAPD, PDRMA and other legislative partners.

In the meantime, no action is necessary and we are assured that the confusion between the actual HB1279 and the press release will be rectified in the appropriate manner.
