Host 2Ball Tournament through Chicago Bulls

Posted on Tuesday 14 November 2006

When the National Basketball Association (NBA) discontinued their association with this grassroots initiative after the 2001 season, the Chicago Bulls and Illinois Park and Recreation Association partnered together to build on this popular skill program that embraces all ages and encourages family participation.

The Chicago Bulls wish to further expand this popular program and now have the resources within to reach out and expand the program even further in the community.  Contact Tony Rokita with the Chicago Bulls at trokita@bulls.com or 312-455-4122 to sign up to host a regional event this year. Teams of two register for the competition through their local park districts and compete through several rounds leading to the championship held each spring at the United Center. The half-court contest allows each two-person team one minute to take alternate shots from marked locations. Each spot is worth a specific point value based upon difficulty and the team with the most points is declared the winner. Each year, approximately 5,000 youngsters participate in our 2Ball program at more than 90 local park districts throughout the state of Illinois.

Thank you to the Carlo Capalbo from the Streamwood Park District and members of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s Athletic Committee for their dedication to this event and helping it grow over the past six years.
