IPRA Board Nominations Due June 20

The Illinois Park & Recreation Association is seeking to fill three (3) positions on the 2008 IPRA Board of Directors. These positions are:

  • At-Large Board Member (3 year term)
  • Southern Illinois Regional Representative (3 year term)
  • Chicago Metro – South Regional Representative (3 year term)

Qualifications
Candidates for these positions must work within the regional area, shall be a certified professional under a plan that requires continuing education units within their specific discipline and an IPRA voting member in good standing.

Duties
The IPRA Board of Directors is a policy and governance board with the following duties:

  • Determine and understand the association’s mission, values and purpose.
  • Assist in establishing operational guidelines.
  • Exercise fiscal control over the association.
  • Act as an advocate for IPRA and parks, recreation and conservation in Illinois.
  • Ensure organizational planning and goal setting for the association
  • Manage the association’s resources.
  • Determine, monitor and strengthen programs and services for the members.
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity in the association.
  • Assist in recruiting future leaders of the association.
  • Assess and measure organizational performance.
  • Attend IPRA Board of Director Meetings on a regular basis.
  • Follow Board Policies & Procedures and Board Protocol.

It is suggested that any candidate for the position contact Amy Charlesworth, Chairman of the Board, Bill McAdam, Past Chairman of the Board, or Bill Wald, Chief Executive Officer, to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors. With this commitment comes a commitment from your agency.

Any interested IPRA Member should complete the 2008 Board of Director Nomination Form and return it to Bill McAdam by June 20, 2007.
