There are several important educational and networking opportunities that students must not miss at the Annual IPRA/IAPD Conference January 25-27 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. Do not miss the Professional Connection, the Student Luncheon and the Speed Mentoring session - all excellent opportunities to meet and network with people that you will be working with and for as you start your career in Illinois. Students do not miss attending conference this year. If your funds are low, you can volunteer for free conference registration. See information below.
Professional Connection (Thurs 5:30-6:30pm, Columbus K/L South Tower). Network in this relaxed, social atmosphere that will provide an informal setting to talk with professionals in your area of interest. Everyone who attends will enjoy pizza and beverages. Student Luncheon - Friday, Grand Suite 5 from 12-1:30. Meet students from other Universities and professionals from each of the various sections of Illinois Park and Recreation Association. Whoever said that there is no such thing as a free lunch, has not attended this luncheon. You will also have the opportunity to elect student representatives. Speed Mentoring - Friday, Grand Suite 3, 3:00–4:15pm. Expand your network contacts and receive career path advice by meeting professionals in 5-minute interview sessions between mentor & protégé. Receive an overview of IPRA Mentoring Program and meet over 40 parks and recreation professionals that will serve as mentors.
Volunteer Information -Don’t miss the opportunity to go to the Conference Jan. 25-27, 2007! As a student get your conference registration reimbursed. Here’s how it works:
The student needs to register for the conference (preferably at the early bird rate which is the most economical). The student volunteers for a minimum (5) hours. The student will receive reimbursement for the conference registration within 45 days after the conference if they have fulfilled their (5) hour requirement.
