Need a fun way to get people to your parks? Check out this promotion from our friends at the Naperville Park District and Chipotle Mexican Grill…

Beginning June 8, Naperville residents will be well advised to keep their eyes peeled while recreating in the Park District.

In partnership with the Naperville Park District, Chipotle will hide 30 giant faux burritos in high-traffic community parks, near trails, and around sports complexes, and from June 8 until June 30, the hunt will be on. The individuals who find the shiny silver treasures will be rewarded with a plentiful bounty: free Chipotle food for a year.

The giant burritos can be redeemed at the Naperville Park District Administration Building, located at 320 W. Jackson, for a deck of Chipotle cards – 56 in all. Each card is good for one free burrito, bol (a burrito without the tortilla), salad or order of tacos.

Throughout the contest, the community is invited to visit www.napervilleparks.org and click on “Support the Park District” to learn more about Chipotle and The Great Burrito Hunt. Visitors will be able to keep track of how many burritos have been recovered and read stories about the people who discovered them.

Chipotle and the Naperville Park District formed a partnership earlier this year, and throughout 2007, Chipotle will reward every Park District volunteer – more than 1,500 of them! – with a free burrito card as a thank you when they donate their time.

Some might question the partnership with Chipotle given the obesity epidemic in our country…but you can’t fault this creative promotion. I really like how they are rewarding their volunteers too. Keep up the great work! P.S. - I can’t get the song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory out of my head - “I’ve got a golden ticket…”.
