WebXtra article on Web 2.0

Posted on Friday 17 November 2006

IPRA’s IT Director, Dean Comber, has a wonderful article published in the Nov/Dec issue of the Illinois Parks & Recreation magazine - “Web 2.0, What It Is And Why Your Agency Should Care”.

“I still clearly remember the day in 1997 when I first installed the CoffeeCup program on my old Gateway computer. CoffeeCup was a basic HTML editor (Hypertext Transfer Markup Language) that allowed anyone to develop a Web site without knowing any code at all. Simple, yet productive.

But that was 1997. True, you might still get good mileage from the car you bought in 1997, but if your agency’s Web site hasn’t changed significantly since then, then your site is a horse and buggy amidst the Internet Ferraris.”

Dean’s article is packed with useful information to get you going in the right direction…a move toward building an online community within your district. Don’t miss out on the conference session on this subject presented by Dean Comber and IPRA’s Marketing & Communication Director, Matt White - Session #901/Fri. 9:30-10:45am.
